money money money MONEY!
so last night my fears about just how stupid the american people are was brought to fruition. i was waiting for a bus to get home after a long day of killing vampires with a few friends (i finally found a rifts gaming group i can have fun in) when the truth of american stupidity was brought to surface.
i hung out in the train station for a bit since it was so bitter cold and then when i though the bus would be coming i went out to the bus stop. there was a guy sitting there and so i asked him if he was familiar with this bus route. he said yes and that it would come very soon. i then complained about the harsh weather. i then joked about how if i could get a day off i would be okay with the threat of snow next week. he then told me he had three days off in a row next week. i was shocked, because of the snow? it had not even started yet. nope, he has three days off because him employer is cutting back hours. why? so they can raise the minimum wage.
here is the point of this post. after i said that was bullshit, he said, "No this is good. I am glad they are raising the wage. It is about time the big companies gave more money to their employees."
i asked if he was serious. he said yes. i laughed at him. he asked why. why?
so at this point i explained how the minimum wage increase was just a distraction directed at the american people. how it was a ploy by our government to distract the people from other issues. i said it was a feel good patch that did no real good. i then explained that if he wanted big bussiness to lose money, we should reverse the minimum wage, make it 2 bucks an hour straight across the board. he said that made no sense. he said then people would all be poor. he then said that big business would only make more money. so i asked him, how? all the people would be poor, big business would be forced to lower prices so they can sell their goods, thus lowering their income. he insisted that i was wrong.
i can't help but laugh even still at this poor individual. let me explain.
let us assume this guy works 40 hours a week. minimum wage is what? um, 5.50 or something. so let us say 5 cause i am bad at math and it will help to prove my point. now in reality he prolly makes 6+ like the rest of us. but for this he makes 5 an hour. before taxes and deductions this guy makes 200 a week and 800 a month. now his wages are raise to 7.25 because of the new minimum wage. congratulations you are making more money! idiot.
800 a month at 5 an hour. hmmm, i wonder how much he will make now? well we know he just got cut three days a week so that means he is only working 16 hours a week. BUT he has that huge increase right? so that works out to a whopping 116 a week so um, 464 a month? bummer! okay so let us give him the benefit of the doubt. lets say they only cut two weeks a month, so two weeks are two days and two weeks are still full. so 112 hours a month, that comes to um, 812, hey look at that! he made more money! thats great! and he has extra time to work somewhere else if he wants to, or even just stay home and read.
wait a second, hold on there. he in theory got a raise of 2.25 dollars and hour and makes a whole 12 extra a month. meaning he actually has not bettered his life. he does have more time in theory, but i am willing to guess that they start having him work 5 days a week but only 3 or 4 hours at a time. so he does not have more time. why do i say this? well if i was big business, i would increase the minimum wage, then cut all full time employess to part time, cut out benifits and still cover all my hours by lapping work times. hmm, big businees scores again.
wow, amazing how basic math and management skills and about 5 minuets here prove that this wage increase is crap. but still an entire nation is praising it. why? maybe because they don't know math? maybe they don't know management? i think it is because they do not think, they just listen to what they are told and nod in agreement.
listen people i didnt even touch on how with a wage increase all other things will go up. or how unemployment will go up to cover the few who do get a wage increase. i didn't even touch on how the youth of our nation will be even less likely to get jobs due to it. nope i just showed how one idiot reacts to this great thing for the people.

I can see your point my dear, I too did the math. Out here it's being raised to 8.25 or 8.50 I can't remember right now.
But at this point, I don't think anyone really cares. Yay we're getting more money, yes for those assholes who get the 40 hours a week we are suppose to get. Everyone gets fucked at one point, The government is simply trying to fuck us all at once.
But still, if I went back to Six Flags, and worked the same amount of time I did before, I would be making *gets out calculator* I'd be making more than 300 dollars a week, that's over a thousand a month.
That would be nice. But who knows, they might try to fuck me out of that too.
