Reality?
i am very confused right now. let me explain.
normally if i asked my girlfriend to sit and watch a movie or tv show where the people have super powers or who have survived some impossible situation and there are ghosts and monsters, it would be an anime and she would say no. she, like so many others would tell me that they can't stand that stuff. that i need to get in better touch with reality. that cartoons were for kids.
insert the TV show "Lost". my girlfriend brought home a borrowed DVD collection of the first season of this show. let me tell you, i really like it.
it has everything. monsters, super powered humans, an empty plot where any thing can get thrown in just to keep the story moving along. it even has the self doubting leader who tries to do everything right, but can't. i love this show, hell i don't think i have seen it more than, um in 10 or 15 different anime series.
thats right, all the elements of the TV show "Lost" are rehashed from scifi, fantasy and anime. what is the difference? it is live action and takes place on earth. what i love though are all the references to star wars and star trek. even a few loose ones to planet of the apes, jurrasic park, aliens movies and the writings of Issac Asimov.
so to all of you who have made fun of me and those like me for YEARS, all i have to say is the joke is on you. you are watching and participating in a cleverly hidden game of D&D, where you never know what is going to happen, anything (and from what i have seen so far ANYTHING) is possible. from the mildly possible to the completely outlandish. i am just surprised that no one has said anything about the "Triangle" yet.
so work has destracted me and i kind of lost my train of thought.........
what i wanted to get to was this. marketing has introduced you to the world of geek, where batman is a hero, jedi powers are real and whenever you run out of bullets, don't worry more will pop up in some random spot, and you liked it. so give other geek entertainment a chance, pick up an anime or watch star trek some night. and if you can't do that, then just admit there is no such a thing as REAL tv, it is all fiction (even the news but that is for another day) and just because CSI is in miami, does not make it real. it is still filmed on a set! just because Law and Order is "Ripped form the headlines" does not ake it any more real, it is FICTION non-reality, made up, written by someone to entertain you. hell even American Idol is not that real, and what about The Real World? hahaha, it is proven that it is scripted.
so next time you make fun of someone for watching wrestling while you watch "24" just keep in mind that Triple H can kick the shit out of Jack Bower, well because he is not real, and Keifer Sutherland is just an actor.

ummm... Jack Bauer could kick anybody's ass. He's better than Chuck Norris. That's right. I said it. Jack Bauer is better than Chuck Norris. AND he doesn't like to kick babies.
You so crazy.
